Adderall is a brand-name psychostimulant medication composed of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, which is thought to work by increasing the amount of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain.

Adderall is widely reported to increase alertness, libido, concentration and overall cognitive performance while decreasing user fatigue. It is available in two formulations: immediate release (IR) and extended release (XR)

my husband just started with the adderall xr, we are really paying attention for benefits or drawbacks. keeping our fingers crossed, just because he was diagnosed doesn't mean it just him.

my 8 yr old grandson is on this. At first, until they regulated the dose for his specific needs, he was like a zombie, now that it has been regulated to him, he functions very well. He is an A-B student in the 3rd grade and has been tested at a 5th grade reading level…That's my boy!

My 6 year old son is on this med. and he does very well with it. It calms him down and helps him to concentrate better on everything he does.

Depending on dosage, the beneficial effects of stimulant medications can last several hours, allowing improved performance throughout the day.

Cons

In the United States, Adderall is a Schedule II drug under the Controlled Substance Act due to having addiction potential and potent effects on blood pressure.
